Day 12: Success Comes From A Rich Abundant Mindset

Coming to the end of Chapter 1 in Robert Kiyosaki's book Rich Dad Poor Dad I see so much of the Poor Dad in my parents back in India. They wanted me to have the best education and God bless their souls for that. They wanted me to get the best college degree to land a good job. Which I did in 1984. But what may have been more beneficial to me back then if they instilled in me that being rich is far better than being poor. For them being rich was mean, dirty and unfair. Mum used to and still says that money is not important as long as you are happy. Interestingly they lead very sad lives because money dictated what they did and how they lead their lives. My real dad too though he was not poor by the salary he earned he still found it hard to manage. His thoughts were always not to make money and he never saw opportunity is any of his dealings in work. His thoughts and actions just were not aligned to make him successful where business dealings were concerned. He died a poor man u...

Day 11: 10 Do's - Don't On How To Be Successful

Here are 10 lessons I picked up reading Chapter 1 in Rich Dad Poor Dad. • The Poor Dad says rich should pay more taxes to take care of the less fortunate. But the RICH Dad says that taxes punish those who produce and reward those who don't produce. • The Poor Dad says to study hard to get the good job in a good company. On the contact the RICH DAD says find a good company and buy it. • The Poor Dad blames his kids for being poor. The RICH Dad says that the reason why he must be rich is because of the kids. • The RICH Dad encourages money talk at the table. The Poor Dad forbade topics of money at the dining table. • Now the Poor Dad looked at money being risky. He played safe. On the other hand the RICH Dad shared how managing risk around money could make you more money. • Interestingly the Poor Dad looked at the family home as the largest investment and greatest asset. While the RICH Dad looked at the family home as a liability. Interesting! • What surprised me is th...

Day 10- Learn To Be Successful From People Who Are On The Road To Success

Robert Kiyosaki talks about his two dads who influenced him growing up. Isn't it interesting that people closest to you can make such an impact over you and what you become. I remember way back in 1971 how another man came into my life back then. He was just 10 years older than me and though he was only 21 years old I noticed he started to develop characteristics of an entrepreneur and stand out from the crowd. He was to become my role model and in a sense the Rich Dad in my life without me sensing it. My highly skilled educated Dad who was a senior employee in a large firm in India back then. Dad was instrumental in getting this high school drop out his first job. In fact I was the one that ran the errand to inform Lewis of a job if he was keen to take it. Opportunity comes to people who see it. Also preparedness is another quality of entrepreneurs. Being prepared to be able to recognize opportunity is very important. Well this man Lewis went on to be very successful. He w...

Day 9: Learning To Be Prepared - Are You Financially Ready

This afternoon my wife shared an interesting story about a girl friend of hers with me. She has this friend that has found herself in hospital due to the negligence of the medical system. No fault of her but three weeks on and she is still bedridden in hospital. Now Marie prior to getting ill was an absolute picture of health. But as you can guess she was unintentionally diagnosed wrongly and ended up with a burst appendix. Right now she is so weak due to internal poisoning caused by fecal matter that she has lost the power of her muscles. Vicki says it will be at least six months before Marie can walk again. So why am I sharing this with you? Lets go back to 24 months ago when we invited Marie to play the RobertbKiyosaki game called CashFlown101 with us. We all had a great two hour session playing CashFlow 101 but Vicki remembers how Marie reacted to the game of getting out of the Rat Race and into the outer lane off being Financially Free. Marie mentioned to us that both she ...

Day-6 | Being Introduced To CashFlow 101 by Robert Kiyosaki

Skipping through the pages this morning in the introduction to the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, I immediately aligned myself with the banker who said that though he knew about banking had no idea that money worked in ways not known to many. Unlike the others in the game - Cash Flow Quadrant, I could see how I had failed in my previous four endeavors in business having made the same mistake over and over again. Einstein once said that "If you do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result it's a sign of insanity". Now that's what was happening to me prior to 2003. I for some reason seemed to be on a treadmill of destruction - The Rat Race of life and just could not get off for the life of me. For more information please contact us on ... Click Here ! Now if you have not read Cash Flow 101 then it's time you do. It's a book around finances and helps you learn how to keep a Profit and Loss Statement, buy assets that add value to the balance...

Day-5: Was Becoming Self Employed Smart - Escaping The Rat Race

Why Did I Chose To Be Self Employed? Was It The Right Thing Tto Do? Prior to being in network marketing I ran a business for over 20 years. I got into business because I was a frustrated employee who was working hard as a chef for a boss back then. I wanted to escape the Rat Race and thought that being self employed was the answer. I saw my boss seemingly make all this money and felt I was actually helping him create and grow his asset. More Info ! Being frustrated with work I decided to take a loan and finance a small restaurant and work for myself. Check out this Youtube link too ! That's how I became self employed.  Little did I know that I had gone from the frying pan into the fire. I soon found myself tied down at work more than when I was working for a boss. Quite often I did not take a wage as I used to pay myself last and often there was not enough profits to cover my wages. That was when I read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and learned that emp...

Day 4: The Rat Race Explained - Why its important to read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad

Image
It's interesting going through the pages of Chapter 1 in Rich Dad Poor Dad where Robert Kiyosaki talks about financial literacy and why it's important for young people in school and college to start to learn what makes money and how to make it work for you. Want To Learn More ? Most probably you have heard the saying by now - Escape The Rat Race ! Most people have as its comes up on Facebook quite often. But what is really the Rat Race of life. Let me explain after what I picked up from the book RichDadPoorDad. And if I can make you understand what it is then I have learned the lesson well too. After all these notes are meant for me to learn too. The Race Race Of Life! The message passed on by parents! According to Kiyosaki parents tell children when they are young that getting a college degree is the most important thing for them to get. Without a university degree they will not be able to land themselves a good job and get by in life. So what do children do...

Day-2: Having The Big House , Car and Income Was Not Enough

Image
Today is Day-2 in my study of the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. On page 1 I can relate to what Sharon Lechter says about financial literacy .  When I was growing up as a teenager in India my dear mother pushed us to study hard as it was the only thing she felt was between having a job and being broke in the 70's. My parents spent so much of their life's earnings on educating their 7 children giving them the very best of education there was around making us engineers, accountants and administrators. Yet as I was growing up I felt there had to be a better way. I saw both mum and dad working very hard to just put us through school first and then college. What hurt me most as a 11 year old was to see mum take up a job so we could keep on studying at a private school. Having a large family back then was not easy for my father to bring up 7 children just on one wage. Due to this huge finacial burden they never really had a great life. They were so much like the...

Day 1: My Learnings From "Rich Dad Poor Dad"

Image
I am reading the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki for the second time to learn the things I missed out when I first read the book in 2002. Its now 13 years later. Why did I take all this time to get back to this book is my question I ask myself. After all this book by Robert Kiyosaki holds so many secrets to creating wealth and would have helped me to get to my goals so much faster. I am intrigued by the tagline on the book - "What the rich teach their kids about money - That the poor and middle class do not!"  I am excited to get started and the paragraphs below are what I have gleamed so far from page one in Chapter 1. I am intrigued at what Robert says in his book that the school system has not taken any steps to teach students anything about the real world. All we are taught in schools is to just study hard and get good grades and to beat everyone else at school. The focus is to get the best jobs out there in the market place . Interestingly the jobs that...
